KFA Ireland condemns anti-DPRK legislation in US congress

KFA Ireland condemns the illegitimate bill before the US House of Representatives which condemns the DPRK for carrying out a safe scientific nuclear experiment. H Res 65 is a bill presented to the US House by Mister Ed Royce, a far right member of the US House of Representatives.

The bill states “Condemning the Government of North Korea for its flagrant and repeated violations of multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions, for its repeated provocations that threaten international peace and stability, and for its February 12, 2013, test of a nuclear device.”

Mr Royce’s bill overlooks to countless offenses committed by the US government and her military which were an actual threat to “international peace and stability”. Mr Royce overlooks the barbarous and perverse crimes committed by his own nation against the people of the DPRK. He forgets that there is not a single soldier from the Korean People’s Army on, or anywhere close to, US soil. The antagonistic policies of the US have placed tens of thousands of US imperialist soldiers within spitting distance of the DPRK. The fact that the US has the highest stockpile of nuclear weapons on Earth is also left out.

Mr Boyce carefully avoids the fact that the DPRK is only carrying out these safe scientific tests as a means of protecting her people against the aggressive foreign policy of the US. It is also not mentioned that the test was carried out in a controlled environment with no damage caused to life or nature.

Mr Royce has also overlooked the horrific crimes his country has committed throughout the world in decades of bloodshed and war. Mr Royce condemns what he calls a threat to “international peace and stability”, yet he is known as one of the most “pro-military” members of the US House. In 2002 he voted in the house to appropriate $78 billion to help fund the illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This does not sound to me like a man with even the slightest respect for peace or humanity. He also voted several times against withdrawing troops from Iraq.

Mr Royce is also an extremist on the right voting to keep religion in schools and to make the Patriot Act, that same act that permits the US to rape whichever state it wishes in a so called “war on terrorism”, permanent. Royce is also a racist and has led anti-Muslim rallies.

For a pro-war hypocrite to put forward such an insulting condemnation against a state which has developed a nuclear program as a means of defence against the US is a disgusting reality of power in the US. That hateful and racist men like Mr Boyce hold positions of authority in the US is a tribute to the hateful and war-mongering state that is the US.
